IT Policy Office

Welcome to the Indiana University Information Technology Policy Office (ITPO).

The ITPO is charged with:

Information technology policy development, dissemination, and education.
Information usage/management policy development and education (in conjunction with data management committees).
Review and analysis of existing policies for continued applicability and effectiveness.
Interpret current policy related to specific issues, situations and incidents.
Coordinate response to incidents of abuse, misuse, or inappropriate use of Indiana University information technology resources.
Coordinate with the IT Security Office (ITSO) to develop and administer security education and awareness programs, and to assist with investigation of IT security incidents.

Authority for ITPO activities related to security of the IU information technology infrastructure has been established by a Resolution of the Trustees of Indiana University and delegated to ITPO by the Vice President for Information Technology and CIO.

If you are a user of IU information technologies, including networks, you are responsible for adhering to all of the Official IT Policies.

If, as a user of IU technologies, you witness or experience IT abuse, misuse, or a breach of technology or data security, or if you have general questions or concerns about IT policy or security, please consult the ITPO Incident Response procedures.

Users who have questions or concerns related to network or computer accounts should contact their local Support Center.

Users who wish to send complaints, comments, or kudos related to the services provided by the offices and departments of the Vice President for Information Technology and Chief Information Officer (which includes University Information Technology Services), please send those to itombuds@iu.
